A place to pause

The Camping system turns Cooking’s basic fire into a shared campsite. A Basic Campfire can host up to three additional profession-crafted objects, with each player contributing one, making roadside stops useful for preparation as well as meeting other adventurers.[1]

To receive other camp features’ benefits, players must sit or craft nearby for at least one minute. Features require a campfire and share a one-hour cooldown, so the system is built around taking a brief break rather than simply passing through.[1]

What professions add

  • Blacksmithing: The Sharpening Wheel increases Strength, with its benefit mutually exclusive with Strength of Earth Totem.[1]
  • Alchemy: The Mana Well restores level-dependent Mana over time and cannot stack with Blessing of Wisdom.[1]
  • Herbalism: The Incense Candle grants Intellect and is mutually exclusive with Arcane Intellect; Tailoring’s Faction Banner grants Spirit to nearby members of the same faction, replacing Divine Spirit while active.[1]
  • Enchanting: The Enchanted Lute provides level-dependent armor, stats and resistances, and is exclusive with Mark of the Wild.[1]
  • Other features offer different kinds of help: First Aid adds Stamina, Fishing increases stats, Engineering supplies a reagent vendor, Leatherworking boosts Rested experience, and Skinning grants critical strike chance. Their listed benefits have class-buff exclusions or eligibility limits where noted.[1]

Unlocking camp crafts

A starter quest introduces Camping. At profession skill 20, players can obtain their first campsite items through starter-zone quests or a profession trainer; items requiring skill 140 or higher come from dungeon and raid drops.[1]

Cooks can later learn larger campfires that accommodate five or ten objects. Other professions also unlock conveniences such as Alchemy Laboratories and Tanning Racks, extending the campsite beyond its initial three-feature setup.[1]

Choose your campsite

Camps are not automatically safe: the announcement warns that enemies can find players while they rest, with added risk on PvP rulesets. The practical choice is to seek the camp benefits while keeping the surrounding danger in mind.[1]

TL;DR

  • Cooking creates the Basic Campfire, which supports up to three additional crafted camp features.[1]
  • Players sitting or crafting nearby for at least a minute gain the benefits of other camp features.[1]
