Hunters lead the class count

With the beta nearing its end, a census cited by the report had scanned more than one million created characters. Hunter was the most-played class, topping 156,000 characters and 15.6% of the total. Warlock was the least-played, at 9%; the report notes that Undead were its most common race pairing.[1]

Skyborne reshape the race rankings

Undead and Human were the most popular single-faction races, together accounting for nearly a third of characters. But Skyborne, split between factions, made up 18.7% overall—nearly 190,000 characters—putting them first among races. Orcs accounted for 9.5% and Trolls 6.7%, despite the report describing their racials as strong or seemingly overpowered.[1]

The Undead Paladin was the leading single class-race combination at nearly 6% of the total. Count Skyborne Druids across both factions, however, and they take the top spot at nearly 60,000 characters. The census also counted more than 43,000 Dwarf Shamans, while Troll Warriors, Dwarf Priests and Dwarf Rogues were among the rarest pairings, each below half a percent.[1]

TL;DR

  • The census reported more than one million characters, with Hunters making up 15.6% and Warlocks 9% of the total.[1]
  • Skyborne were the largest race group overall, while the new Undead Paladin and Skyborne Druid combinations stood out among class-race choices.[1]
